Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs. As with other types of limestone, travertine is soft, porous, and prone to chipping and scratching. It is characterized by naturally occurring pitted holes and troughs in its surface. Depending on the look you want, travertine can be purchased "filled" or "unfilled." If you like a smooth finish, our installers use grout to fill the holes then polish your travertine to a smooth, shiny finish.
